Trip to Acadia National Park, Maine

So we got together with our good friends and decided to explore Acadia National Park. The chosen dates were Sept 1-3, 2007

We co-rented a 6 seater and set out early morning. The drive was a 3 hour ordeal but we all took turns and it was fast paced. We managed to get the camp site only for one night only, so we just got to work as soon as we got there and setting up the tent was the first major project. We then headed out to check out the area and the sea side drive or a road called Park Loop, which is the highlight, was particularly refreshing.

Another interesting point was the thunder hole where waves zero in and cause great thunderous sounds...very cool! The walk on the beach was good but boy! the water was cold. The view from sea rocks was very beautiful and great place to click a few snaps.

The same evening we climbed up Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on eastern seaboard and cherished the sunset. This is where sun's rays first hit North America.Very romantic!!

By the time we got back to the campsite, it was pitch dark and very scary for the girls. We drove a few feet without lights just for kicks. Dinner was next! but setting up the fire turned out to be a unexpected but short challenge. The rest was great under the starry skies. The breakfast was elaborate but quick and we ate a lot knowing we have a fun filled day ahead.

We has booked a hotel so we had no rush to check in. The day was marked by a thrilling hike and walk around the Jordan Pond. The next day most of our energy went into biking and a little more hiking.

Overall, it was a great trip and was meant to retreat into the nature, which we did well.
