Fall Trip - Stowe, Vermont

So on 3rd Oct, we 4 couples decided to go to Stowe, Vermont, known for its fall. We rented a cabin for 2 nights. For a 4 bedroom, secluded cabin near the city, it was about 330$ in all, a great deal! We had a draw of luck to decide who will get the master bedroom. The drive it self is very beautiful once you enter Vermont.

First activity of the day was of course, hiking up a major mountain. We couldn't complete it as it got impossible for ladies to clear a big hurdle.

The view from the summit (well, almost) was spectacular. It wasn't very cold so we just sat there enjoying the view.

We roamed about a bit more...in the car. Ate at local diners and went to a great arts and craft fair.

Back in the cabin, we had to try the jacuzzi. The next morning, the walk was very soothing, with all the colors and quiet.

We drove around, did some more hiking, checked out some trails. Anamitra 'the chicken' waited at the start while all of us tried to complete the mile long trail. Again, the colors were amazing.

The next fun place to go is the sledge ride at the TopNotch resort. It was time consuming but good fun. We had to take the carriage ride driven by Belgian horses and check out all the covered bridges. Girls fed them and I got to muster the 2 horses.

In a sum, a great trip, apart from the usual Franconia Notch crap and crowd. Highly recommended for people interested in experiencing the fall in its full splendor.

Trip to Acadia National Park, Maine

So we got together with our good friends and decided to explore Acadia National Park. The chosen dates were Sept 1-3, 2007

We co-rented a 6 seater and set out early morning. The drive was a 3 hour ordeal but we all took turns and it was fast paced. We managed to get the camp site only for one night only, so we just got to work as soon as we got there and setting up the tent was the first major project. We then headed out to check out the area and the sea side drive or a road called Park Loop, which is the highlight, was particularly refreshing.

Another interesting point was the thunder hole where waves zero in and cause great thunderous sounds...very cool! The walk on the beach was good but boy! the water was cold. The view from sea rocks was very beautiful and great place to click a few snaps.

The same evening we climbed up Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on eastern seaboard and cherished the sunset. This is where sun's rays first hit North America.Very romantic!!

By the time we got back to the campsite, it was pitch dark and very scary for the girls. We drove a few feet without lights just for kicks. Dinner was next! but setting up the fire turned out to be a unexpected but short challenge. The rest was great under the starry skies. The breakfast was elaborate but quick and we ate a lot knowing we have a fun filled day ahead.

We has booked a hotel so we had no rush to check in. The day was marked by a thrilling hike and walk around the Jordan Pond. The next day most of our energy went into biking and a little more hiking.

Overall, it was a great trip and was meant to retreat into the nature, which we did well.

A few thoughts...for a start

I have been shying away from blogging. I always knew I could write. I used to write lot. I had this period in my life where I was spurting out poems from left and right. I could write essays that will fill the notebooks.

But with time passing by and constraints of life, I kept moving away from the thing called mental freedom which harbours an expressive mind. People think less and say more today. And you will notice that the best words that this past generation read, heard and said are ever decreasing in numbers.

But I am back. For I have a volcano of thoughts and words roaring to come out. If blogging is what it takes, so be it!!
